Spotlight on Clickers

This week I would like to draw your attention to the tutorials on PRS Clickers. Personal response devices are handy tools being incorporated by faculty to increase interactions, enable peer learning, and check for understanding through polling students with multiple choice questions incorporated into class presentations.

Clicker-based pedagogies have been exploited by professors of all disciplines including the chemistry faculty at Allegheny who incorporate clickers into introductory chemistry courses.

If you are interested in learning more about clickers check out 7 Things You Should Know About Clickers from the ELI's 7 Things... page or tune into the Clickers in the Classroom episode of the Allegheny Workshop Podcast.

Getting Started With Your Wiki - Weekly Tutorial Spotlight

I am starting a new feature on our blog called Weekly Tutorial Spotlight as there are a lot of good just in time help options on the computing services tutorials pages.

This week I would like to draw your attention to the tutorials on a relatively new web tool available to the Allegheny community called a wiki.

Now you are probably asking your self what's a wiki and why would I want one. That is great because our
Getting Started with Your Wiki tutorial addresses those questions and gives you some pointers on what to do with a wiki once you have one.

If the tutorial inspires more questions contact your instructional technologist to learn how a wiki can be applied to teaching and learning.
